Wow! Today was my best day at Mt Baker Ski Area (so far) this season. When you get 50+ inches of powder conditions in 3 days, there always seems to be a spontaneous flu outbreak. Congrats to all those that called in sick, and my sympathies to their employers who decided to hire one of us mountain folk. Let it snow...

Another epic day of riding powder at the Mt Baker Ski Area! I'm sure there a lot of "sick" people from work today...
Opening Day 2017-2018 Mt Baker Ski Area
What an amazing day 1 at Mt Baker. As they say, the early bird gets the ... First Chair (on 5)! I left Bellingham while most people were dreaming of hitting their Snooze buttons. Things were looking like the sky was going to clear up, but This Is Baker and the upper mountain was getting light snow all day.

The Mt Baker Snow Report was showing a base of 50"+ at Heather Meadows and over 70" at the top of Pan Dome. It was truly DEEP! (Pro Tip- Don't forget to take your touring ski boots out of WALK mode prior to ripping pow!)
After hitting all of my Mt Baker powder stashes, the legs were telling me I didn't train hard enough this summer. Good thing it is only Day 1 and this weekend's forecast looks promising.

Mt Baker Ski Area is opening this Thursday, November 16th! Chairs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 will be running with both base areas and all 3 lodges open. Happy Early Thanksgiving!
